We’re starting to feel very festive here, the decorations are up and we’re now serving our special Christmas Cocktails. We have created six delicious drinks that will really get you in the Christmas mood. Whether you have been shopping at the Bath Christmas market, are out with your colleagues for the annual party or just catching up with friends we hope there will be a festive favourite that takes your fancy.
Mulled Gin & Tonic
Our gin bar has been open for nearly two years, and this creation for our first gin-inspired Christmas was so popular we had to bring it back! Basically, it is a warm version of the classic gin and tonic. Like any good mulled drink it has lots of lovely spice: cinnamon, cloves, star anise, and cardamom. We also add some pressed apple juice, honey and orange peel along with gin.
Taking our inspiration from the ever-popular Harry Potter books and films, this warming creation was particularly good fun to bring to life. We combined our home-infused vanilla vodka with a delicious vanilla liqueur called Licor 43, added some cream soda and topped it off with a good squirt of homemade butterscotch foam! Served in a chunky tankard you’ll feel just like you walked into the Three Broomsticks – just what we muggles need to warm up after a stint Christmas shopping!
Mince Pie Martini
Nothing is more evocative of Christmas than the rich aroma of mincemeat, and this Christmas cocktail captures that in a surprisingly refreshing cocktail. To start with we make a mincemeat syrup by heating mincemeat with golden caster sugar and water, before straining through muslin. To this we add gin, sweet vermouth and a dash of dark rum. This is a favourite from last year that will make an occasional appearance this Christmas as a special!
25ml mincemeat syrup
20ml sugar syrup
25ml London dry gin
25ml sweet vermouth
5ml dark rum
Garnish: Rim glass with a 4:1 mixture of caster sugar and mixed spice. Clip a washed holly leaf pegged to rim of glass with a small peg and dust with icing sugar
Combine all ingredients in a shaker, shake with ice cubes. Rim a chilled martini glass with the sugar and spice mixture, strain the cocktail into the glass. Garnish with the holly leaf and dust with icing sugar.
White Christmas Mojito
Another favourite from last year is a striking take on a classic mojito using coconut rum and cream. It certainly looks festive in white and the pomegranate seeds add a nice dash of seasonal colour too.
25ml lime juice
8 mint leaves
20ml sugar syrup
40ml Koko Kanu coconut rum
50ml coconut cream
Glass: Hi-ball or upcycled milk bottle
Garnish: mint sprig and pomegranate seeds
Gently muddle mint leaves, add other ingredients except soda and shake with ice. Pour contents into glass, add crushed ice and soda. Serve straight away.
Christmas Prosecco Punch
This drink looks amazing with all the fresh, seasonal fruits. It is also really zesty and refreshing. This makes it an excellent aperitif if you are having people over for dinner. It is also a great contrast to some of the richer drinks on the menu. In a punch bowl we combine cranberry juice, pomegranate juice, orange juice and the juice of 2 limes. Then add sliced lime, sliced clementines, fresh cranberries and fresh pomegranate seeds.
Finally glug in half a bottle of vodka and a bottle of Prosecco and lots of ice!
Hope you enjoy our Christmas cocktails! Cheers, and Happy Christmas!
