We have got lots of exiting new products arriving at Sub 13 for spring, the first of which is the amazingly delicious Holy Grass vodka.
Made in Scotland, using Anthoxanthum nitens, otherwise known as holy grass because of its traditional use in matting for church floors, it is Britain’s answer to Zubrowka or Bison Grass vodka. In fact that is no coincidence because they are one-and-the-same plant, and Holy Grass vodka shares many of the characteristics of Zubrowka.
The holy grass is combined with apples and other top secret botanicals by husband and wife Martin and Claire Murray, and distilled by Dunnet Bay Distillers in Caithness. It is also packaged beautifully in stoneware crocks.
It really is a delicious vodka, with a lovely smooth, creamy mouthfeel, delightful herbaceous and vanilla notes along wit hints of apple and spice.
Of course, it combined beautifully with pressed apple juice and lemon to make an amazing Tatanka. We also recommend our Thurso Royale, combining Holy Grass with Chase Elderflower liqueur, lemon and Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut Champagne. Named after the river Thurso where the holy grass grows in abundance, we think this combination of three amazing products from England, Scotland and France will be the perfect for sipping on our new Champagne Terrace.
